How To Get Women To Trust The Police? ‘Gender’ Desks
Deputy sergeant Mauwa Saleh is the coordinator of the seven Gender and Children desks in Zanzibar. These desks are staffed by police officers who have received training on how to interview victims and investigate reports of gender-based violence.

In Tanzania and Zanzibar, the rate of sexual assault is high. And even the police admit they don’t do a good job responding to complainants. So they came up with a plan.
